Jonathan Raban wurde 1942 in Norfolk geboren. Er ist Autor etlicher Bücher, für die er zahlreiche Preise erhielt. Er gilt zusammen mit Bruce Chatwin und Peter Mathiesen als «einer der besten Autoren seiner Generation» (Observer). Passage nach Juneau wurde als «meisterhaft» (Time) und als «Triumph» (Chicago Tribune) gefeiert. Jonathan Raban lebt mit seiner Tochter in Seattle.
