Brian Lumley wurde im Dezember 1937 im Nordosten Englands geboren. Während seiner Zeit beim Militär begann Lumley, beeinflusst von den Büchern H. P. Lovecrafts, selbst zu schreiben. Seinen Durchbruch als Autor feierte er 1984 mit dem ersten Band der NECROSCOPE-Serie. Seitdem hat er eine ganze Reihe erfolgreicher Romane veröffentlicht, die in zahlreichen Ländern übersetzt wurden.
