It is a book of illustrated receipts, a cooks picture book, intended to be very useful in the way of suggestions. It is arranged so that housekeepers may more readily make up a menu, often a difficult task, or may easily find new dishes to vary the routine of the daily fare. Much of the information contained in this early works will still be found to be useful and practical today. Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900's and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive.
