CITY CLERK. Section 1. The city clerk shall be clerk of the Board of Aldermen, and shall perform all other duties which are now, or may hereafter be, required of him by the laws of the Commonwealth, the city charter, or the ordinances of the city. Sect. 2. He shall attend all general meeting's of the citizens which may be held by virtue of warrants issued by the Mayor and Aldermen, and he shall open every such meeting by reading the warrant therefor, and shall continue to preside thereat until a moderator is chosen. He shall keep, in a separate book, a record of the proceedings of such meetings, and shall insert in said record, copies of all reports or other documents upon which said proceedings may, have been founded. Sect. 3. His office shall be kept open for the transaction of business on every secular day of the year, from 9 A. M. to 12 M., and, except Saturdays, from 2 to 5 P. M. ; also, on at least two evenings in every week, from 7 to 9 o'clock. Sect. 4. He shall pay over to the treasurer,, monthly, all monies and fees received by him, accompanied by a statement of the purposes for which they were received, taking the treasurer's receipt therefor. Sect. 5. The City Council shall annually appropriate a definite sum for the salary of the cityclerk,which sum shall be in full compensation for all services performed by, or required of, him as city clerk. ORDINANCE III. CITY ENGINEER. Section 1. The Mayor and Aldermen shall annually, as soon after their organization as practicable, appoint a city engineer, who shall hold his office for the term of one year, unless sooner removed.
